Between good players, on a larger map, the game will have devolved into a tedious-to-break stalemate before they’ve even found each other. Metal maps aren’t lots of metal quickly, they’re insane amounts of metal quickly. Or a map with a geo nearby and then start everyone out with some extra resources. Over Crude Water is one of a handful of maps that were omitted from the 2016 steam release and must be downloaded separately.Sure! That’s… oh it’s been too long, Painted Desert was one of them, and Comet Catcher I think also, and there were other maps with a lot of metal patches. As with all Core Prime maps with thermal vents, each individual vent can have up to four Geothermal Powerplants built on top of it. Despite the absence of objects that can be reclaimed for energy, energy generation methods are not hard to come by, as Tidal Generators can be built in the various bodies of water to generate a constant 25 energy, and various thermal vents can be found within the major land sections of the map, with four in the central section and two on each of the smaller sections around the perimeter. The map has very few reclaimable features, all of which are located in the large central section, though it is often not necessary to reclaim these features as they all give metal, a resource which is naturally abundant on Core Prime maps. Because Over Crude Water is a Core Prime map, building a Metal Extractor anywhere will generate the maximum amount of metal possible, which also extends to building Underwater Metal Extractors in the varies bodies of water, a feature not available in non-Core Prime pre- Core Contingency maps.
The map has the appearance of a large maze that's made up of many narrow interconnecting metal bridges and a large metal section in the centre, with smaller sections situated at its edges and corners. Over Crude Water is one of the three Core Prime maps that came bundled with the original version of Total Annihilation, the other two being Metal Heck and Seven Islands.
